Principal’s Welcome

Bridgetown High School is a uniquely small secondary school catering for students in Years 7 – 10. Set on extensive grounds, the school provides a spacious, well maintained environment that is shady and cool in the summer months and bursting with colour in autumn and spring.

Our smaller cohort allows staff to build quality relationships with the students and the Student Services Team work hard to meet the needs of all students academically, emotionally and socially. The school offers wrap around support to students, including a flexible approach to learning for those who may experience difficulties in a mainstream classroom. Our Student Services Team consists of Program Coordinators for Years 7 and 8, and Years 9 and 10; an onsite School Psychologist and Nurse; a Mental Health Coordinator; a Learning Support Coordinator; a Chaplain and an Attendance Coordinator. Our philosophy is based on the assumption that if our students’ emotional and social needs are catered for, then the impact of a quality learning program is greater for each student.

We aim to provide a quality academic program that includes a rigorous Mathematics, Science, English and History and Social Sciences program, as well as a range of Vocational and Technical subjects such as Digitech, Extra English, Home Economics, Woodwork, Metalwork, Photography, Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Physical Education. French and Japanese are currently offered as Language courses.

A robust SES Cadets program is offered for those students with a passion to learn new skills and prepare to become SES volunteers within the community. A variety of camps are offered within the Cadet program each term, consolidating the skills learnt in this very valuable program.

School tours to Canberra and Japan are regularly offered and our school participates competitively in the WA District High Schools Country Week in Perth.

We are committed to preparing students for their Senior Schooling whether they be ATAR or Vocationally bound. Work Experience and School Based Traineeships are on offer to those wishing to pursue these options, and we can assist students in applying for or working towards gaining an Apprenticeship.

I look forward to welcoming you and your child to our inclusive, safe and caring environment where we know your child will reach their potential and achieve the success they are capable of.
