BRIDGETOWN HIGH SCHOOL
The school’s moral purpose:
Bridgetown High School is an outstanding, inclusive school that values diversity and effectively responds to the changing needs of our students. We Seek the Best.
The school’s values:
Kindness – Be aware of your impact on others, be positive and encouraging, take care of yourself and others, be inclusive, share spaces and resources.
Resilience – Keep going even when things are hard, demonstrate self-control, accept consequences for behaviour, ask for help, accept feedback, lose or win with grace, be patient.
Responsibility – Treat property and the environment with care, be organised, be accountable, be punctual, meet deadlines, use class time well, use break times to eat and take toilet breaks.
Respect – Follow instructions, recognise and value differences, use appropriate language and noise level, allow others to learn and to teach, use manners, be an active listener, play fairly, put rubbish in the bin.
Teaching and Learning Instructional Model
The teaching staff have worked together to create an evidence-based instructional model. By implementing this across the school, our teachers are increasing the consistency of best practice.
The model follows the process of gradual release of responsibility - I do, We do, You do
It uses a cycle of learning as follows:
Engage – success criteria, learning intentions, prior knowledge
Learn – group work, differentiation, explicit teaching
Apply – assessments, independent work
Review – revisit success criteria and learning intentions
